"The Singularity Is Near" is a song by Mars Argo. It is featured as the opening track on their debut album Technology Is a Dead Bird.
Background[]
The song was written as a tribute and heavily inspired by the 2005 Raymond Kurzweil book of the same name, The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology. It introduces the character of Connie, who is an artificial intelligence narrating the story of the album.

A music video for the song was released on July 10th, 2009. It was originally titled "Technology Is a Dead Bird Promo",[2] but later renamed to the actual song title.[3]
Synopsis[]
The video starts with Mars Argo finding Connie abandoned in the forest. She turns up the volume as Connie is playing the song. The following shots of the video show her grabbing Connie and running out of the forest. The last scenes are text announcing that the song will be included on Technology Is a Dead Bird.
Trivia[]
- The song samples the piano melody of "Electric Car", an unreleased song which was intended for Technology Is a Dead Bird but later scrapped.
