"Open up the Door in Your Head" is a song by Mars Argo. It was only ever released as a live performance and was likely intended for use on their canceled second studio album.
Background[]
Mars Argo posted the song's titular line to her Facebook page on February 11th, 2012.[1] The track saw its live debut later that month at Lincoln Hall, featuring improvised lyrics due to not yet being finished.
It was again previewed in Computer Show episode "Ask Me a Fcking Question", released on June 12th, 2012,[2] where Argo and Sinclair each read a diary page relating to the song. Sinclair sings an excerpt from the chorus at the end of his page, with its acoustic instrumental being used as background music for the video.
The song's final version was debuted live at Silverlake Lounge on April 24th, 2013,[3][4][5] and was subsequently performed at multiple venues throughout the year such as Bardot and Pehrspace.[6][7] A live version, recorded at Bedrock Studios, was released to the Grocerybag YouTube channel on June 20th, 2013.[8]
Lyrics[]
In the middle of the night
I take off all my clothes
(Open up the door in your head)
I let it go but I just don't know where it goes
(Open up the door in your head)
Open up the door in your head
Open up the door in your head
Open up the door in your head
Open up the door in your head
Do what you say and you'll never need another man
I don't wanna know where you go
In the middle of the night
I take off all my clothes
I just thought you might wanna know
Open up the door in your head
Open up the door in your head
Open up the door in your head
Open up the door in your head
In the middle of the night
I take off all my clothes
(Open up the door in your head)
In the middle of the night
I take off all my clothes
I light a cigarette and wait for you to come home
Open up the door in your head (Come home)
Open up the door in your head (Come home)
Open up the door in your head (Come home)
Open up the door in your head
Mmm, mmm
Don't go away
Can you hear me say?
Don't go away
Can you hear me say?
Don't go away
Can you hear me say?
Don't go away
Won't you help me say?
You, you were the only one
You, you're the only one
I just want to see you be happy
(Maybe you never will)
I just want to see you be happy
(Maybe you don't know what that is)
I just want to see you be happy
(Sure, okay)
I just want to see you be happy
(Okay)
Come on, just say it
You want it, you want me back
Come on, just say it
You want it, you want me back
Come on, just say it
