Mars Argo Wiki

Internet Sessions is the first digital extended play by Mars Argo. It was released to Bandcamp on August 18th, 2010[1] and served as an acoustic companion piece to Technology Is a Dead Bird and Linden Place.

Background[]

In promotion of their debut album, Technology Is a Dead Bird, Mars Argo and Titanic Sinclair began to release homemade acoustic videos of songs from the record in 2009, beginning with "Machine" on October 14th, and "Suicide Birds" on December 17th, 2009.[2][3]

The duo began re-recording old and unfinished material with professional producer Johnny K at Groovemaster Studios in 2010 and released acoustic demo videos for "Electric Car" and a rewritten "Technology Is a Dead Bird" filmed at the 'Blue Room' of the studio to document it in early June of that year.[4][5]

In a similar vein to the "Machine" and "Suicide Birds" videos, the duo released an acoustic performance video of "Using You" to promote Linden Place on May 26th, 2011.[6] "Everything Turns to Gold" was released as their final acoustic video on February 9th, 2012.[7]

Release and promotion[]

All four of the original uploads were later set to private in 2010 and the EP was released on August 18th, 2010, after fan inquiries about where they went. The EP was specifically advertised as a collection of "rare demos and acoustic performances". It was removed from sale a few months later.

The performances of "Using You" and "Everything Turns to Gold" would replace the Blue Room sessions as the third and fourth tracks on the EP's 2012 rerelease.[8] The EP's release on Bandcamp would be made private sometime between May 22nd, 2012 - May 30th, 2013.

On August 25th, 2019, the EP was made public again on Bandcamp without any official announcement or statement from Argo.
