"A-Okay" (alternately written as "A-Ok" and originally titled "Leyam Lightning") is a song by Mars Argo, featured as the second track on the original tracklist to Linden Place.

Background[]

Prior to the release of Linden Place, the song was previewed in the Computer Show episode "Do You Ever Feel Empty?", released in January 2011, in the form of an instrumental snippet playing throughout the video.[1]

The song's working title was revealed by Titanic Sinclair on a sheet of paper posted to his now-deleted Tumblr account in early 2011. Around this time, he also posted an image of himself producing the track, with the caption reading "linden place".[2]

On July 23rd, 2015, this song and "Formal Girl" were both removed from the Bandcamp release of the EP for unknown reasons. These tracks still remained on the iTunes version until May 12th, 2021, when the whole release was taken down.[3]

Theme[]

The song is about a girl not following her parents' expectations and upbringing by dating someone for love, rather than finance like her parents raised her to do. She is indefinitely baffled by people saying her significant other is not the right one for her, but she just wants to live happily with her lover and wants the people who have a negative say with that to just leave her alone.

Lyrics[]

I grew up in a home where emotion means nothing
When your heart is a stone you feel numb to it beating
Mommy taught me to marry a man for his money
Daddy taught me "Never rely on anybody"

I was so confused
About my point of view
I didn't know the truth
Until I met you

And everything was okay
Everything is a-okay
Find someone who thinks the same
And makes you feel okay

I was told he was unmotivated and lazy
But I'd rather be happy together than crazy
"If you can choose who to love
Then take the money and run, little girl"
"Little girl, remember A = A
You don't need his love anyway"

Oh, little girl...
I was so confused
About my point of view
I didn't know the truth
Until I met you

And everything was okay
Everything is a-okay
Find someone who thinks the same
And makes you feel okay
